457 and employer sponsored permanent visas: What we know and what we don’t

Information on the rollout of the new Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa, which will replace the Subclass 457 - Temporary Work (Skilled) visa in the future in three phases starting immediately. Caveats have been introduced to high-risk occupations and changes to the duration of visa grants. Also, changes to Subclass 186 - Employer Nomination Scheme and Subclass 187 - Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visas.

New business entrepreneur visa available; GSM points for masters by research and doctoral graduates

The new entrepreneur stream for the Subclass 188 and 888 - Business Innovation and Investment visas. Also, those with masters by research and doctoral graduates will stand to score more points for General Skilled Migration visas, including the Subclass 189 - Independent visa and Subclass 489 - Skilled - Regional (Provisional) visa.

Push for medical practitioners to be removed from the Skilled Occupation List

An article claims the Department of Education and Training recommended that medical practitioners be removed from the Skilled Occupation List. This would affect registered doctors applying for Subclass 189 - Independent visas and Subclass 489 - Skilled - Regional (Provisional) visas.
