186TRT: Amending regulations registered, legacy 457 visa holder exemption survives; concession period ending

Some of the most important changes to Australia’s skilled migration policy will commence tomorrow, 25 November 2023, enabling all streams of 482 visa holders to meet work experience requirements for a 186 visa under the Temporary Residence Transition stream. The definition of concession period, used for exemptions due to the pandemic will end on 25 November 2023.

186/187 visas: TRT stream for all from 25 November 2023, third 482 visa onshore applications allowed

A recent news article from the Department of Home Affairs confirms that the subclass 186 visa under the Temporary Residence Transition stream will be opened to all applicants from 25 November 2023, as well as existing applications not finally determined. Subclass 482 visa holders in the Short-term stream will be able to another visa without leaving Australia from 25 November 2023.

COVID-19: Onshore grants for offshore family visas; Nil VAC for former 457/482 visa holders; Global Talent visa add special envoy endorsement

New regulations that take into effect on 27 February 2021 will see various offshore family visas able to be granted in Australia, nil visa application charges for former 457 and 482 visa holders stuck overseas during the pandemic, and a new pathway for the renamed Subclass 858 – Global Talent visa.
