Coronavirus: Self-isolation imposed on all travellers inbound to Australia

The Prime Minister announced yesterday that all visitors to Australia must self-isolate for at least 14 days when they arrive to prevent the spread of coronavirus. There is also a ban on all cruise liners from foreign ports in Australia for the next 30 days. Additionally, updated advice from the Department of Home Affairs has threatened visa cancellation on certain people who have been to mainland China, South Korea, Iran, and Italy after a specific date.

Student visa holder supermarket employees to be able to work beyond 40 hours per fortnight

While the effects of coronavirus do not appear to be subsiding, one group of people may find some benefit: international student employed by major supermarkets. This is because the acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs announced today that existing employees of major supermarket chains will be able to work beyond 40 hours per fortnight to help keep shelves stocked with panic-buying essentials.
