Temporary travel ban for Iranian subclass 600 - Visitor visa holders effective from 26 March 2026

Iranian passport holders that hold a subclass 600 – Visitor visa and who are outside Australia are subject to a temporary ban from coming to Australia for six months from 26 March 2026. Their visa is now not in effect unless they have a permitted travel certificate, which is an application they must make.

While the effects of coronavirus do not appear to be subsiding, one group of people may find some benefit: international student employed by major supermarkets. This is because the acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs announced today that existing employees of major supermarket chains will be able to work beyond 40 hours per fortnight to help keep shelves stocked with panic-buying essentials.
